Marketing of medicinal products (pharmaceuticals)

Advertising medicinal products is associated with a large number of regulations and restrictions that must be strictly adhered to – thanks to our knowledge and experience, we know very well how different groups of medicines differ from one another, which means: we operate more confidently, instinctively knowing what can be done and what absolutely should not be done when creating advertising for a given group.

There are two groups: RX, available only with a prescription, often only for hospitals, administered under the vigilant eye of a doctor, and OTC, over-the-counter, which can easily be purchased at a pharmacy and, in some cases, even in a store.
The first of these groups consists of very strong products that can negatively affect the health of the patient when taken without the help of a medical caregiver. As a marketing agency for medicinal products, we realize that such medications cannot be advertised to patients – in this case, marketing activities can only be directed toward doctors and pharmacists. We have significant experience in this area. As part of advertising campaigns for medicinal products (marketing for drug manufacturers), we have created a plethora of materials both printed and digital. We can boast of many creative Key Visuals, informing doctors about the most important features of the products. Based on them, we designed various leaflets and brochures, multimedia presentations, and animations.

Marketing for OTC medicinal products, or those available without a prescription, seems much easier. In this case, there are more advertising opportunities, primarily because they can be directed directly at the main consumers, namely patients. The pathways to reach the audience are also expanding – as an advertising agency for medicinal products, we have created many educational materials for well-known OTC brands, e.g., in the form of brochures or posters hanging in clinics, as well as pharmacy POS materials. We also have in our portfolio scripts for radio or television spots. However, in this case, it is important to mention the key rules of advertising for over-the-counter medicinal products – the main element in this case is the so-called legal (i.e., the text “Before use, read the leaflet...”), which must occupy no less than 20% of the printed material, and in audiovisual material no shorter than 8 seconds.

However, the key rule of marketing for medicinal products is a firm prohibition on misleading consumers – medications are meant to help people, not to harm them. When advertising them, one must always keep in mind the well-being of both the client and the consumer – which we strive to adhere to diligently.
